Doom metal in a small club? Yes please! In this episode we talk about our second trip to Reggies Rock Club to see Khemmis. Joining them on their Deceiver North American MMXXII Tour we got Conjurer, all the way from across the pond, and their brothers from Calgary, Wake. Also, a very special surprise to us when we showed up at the venue, we got a fourth band, Mother of Graves.

In 2016 at Chicago Open Air we saw a lot of bands for the very first time. Pop Evil was among them. Since then we have not listened to much of their music. However, it’s almost a guarantee we will hear them on the radio. We do, however, remember seeing them at Open Air and liking their set. So when they announced they were going to be back in Chicago for their Skeletons tour we definitely wanted to check them out. Joining them at the Concord we also got to see The Word Alive and Avoid.

Description: Encore! This is our first bonus episode. In this show we talk about our time seeing three amazing Chicagoland bands; The Feral Ghosts, Blackcat Manor, and The Hellcatz at Soundgrowler. These amazing people put on a benefit show for Feed The Beasts, a volunteer organization taking care of a cat (Beasts) colony. They work to socialize and provide the best care possible for the little beasts. It was a fantastic concert put on by wonderful people for a great cause.

When you see a live show the setlist will have some songs you can almost guarantee you are going to hear. When the band is on tour to promote a new album, you can expect to hear several of the new songs too. With this in mind we decided to try and think about what the setlist for Metallica 72 Seasons tour might look like. We can't wait to see Metallica live later in the year to see just how right we are. Or, honestly, how wrong we were.

Our first shows in Chicago were at House of Blues. Due to its location and size the venue instantly became one of our all time favorite venues. With recent shows there, and shows at other venues in the city, our thoughts have shifted a little. Join us as we look at the most recent show we saw at the House of Blues, Rise of the Machine with Static-X, Dope, Fear Factory, Twisted, and Cultus Black.

For our year end review we took a look back at the year and picked the top 6 items in a category. This time around we only have 3 categories. We talk about; the top 6 albums you would want on a deserted island, our top 6 non-metal artists, and the top artists we have yet (but hope) to see in concert one day.

As we say at the beginning, this podcast is primarily about live music and metal music. When we say live music, we mean a concert. Hopefully GA, but a typical concert. However, there are many other ways to experience live music. In this episode we explore some of these other types of live music. Listen in and see if we missed any, or if any or your favorite ways to consume music are in this list.

We make the trip to the burbs once again. This time, to see Eluveitie. A new, to us, band that melds folk and metal. This also happened to be a very special show because it was Fabienne Erni’s (Eluveitie - singer/harp) birthday! Joining Eluveitie was Omnium Gatherum and Seven Spires. Unfortunately this was the second show where a band member for the headlining act was unable to be at the show. But just like the last time this did not stop the band from bringing their all and putting on a killer show. Join us as we look back at this show and debate if we will be heading back to the burbs for a show anytime soon.

Here it is, year 3. The final Chicago Open Air. At least for now, we hope. While the venue remained the same, just under a different name, much of what we fell in love with was gone. Even though the festival setup did not live up to past years, the music did. The 2019 headliners were System of a Down and Tool. Only 1 stage, and 2 days this year. But like past years we found many new bands through the opening artists. The final installment of Chicago Open Air left a sour taste in our mouth, but the overall experience of the 3 years have left us wanting a Metal festival to return to the midwest and our favorite city, Chicago.
